The Energy Boosting Snack You Are Going to Want to add to Your Repertoire
I found a new recipe that I love! It is fool proof, delicious, filling and so nutritious. It is actually made with one of the most popular super foods in today’s health community.
Have you ever tried chia seeds? They are high in protein, fiber, calcium, omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants. They boost energy, promote youthful looking skin, support heart and bone health, as well as, boosting muscle mass and aiding in weight loss. This is definitely a food that you will want to incorporate into your diet if you haven't already. Despite the obvious benefits of this nutritious food, many people may hesitate to start eating them because it is not really obvious how we are supposed to eat these little black seeds. Spooning them into our mouths like cereal is not appetizing nor is it recommended. Yuck!
I was walking through whole foods the other day and I came across a product called a chia pod. It was a pudding that was made of chia seeds. I was intrigued, but then I looked at the price. The little pod which contained about a half a cup of pudding was almost three dollars and fifty cents. One serving for that price seemed excessive, especially since I knew that chia seeds themselves can be bought organically in the bulk section of the supermarket for a very reasonable price. So, I decided to go home and make my own pudding. Little did I know how easy and affordable this recipe would be. I am completely addicted to this new sweet, creamy treat.
The base of the recipe is really simple. Just add 1/2 cup of chia seeds to 2 cups of any type of milk that you enjoy (I use hemp milk). Mix it together and place it in a sealed container in the fridge overnight. When you wake up in the morning you will have thick creamy pudding. This is the base of the recipe, but you can flavor your chia seed pudding with anything that you enjoy from berries to chocolate. It is great as a morning breakfast or as an energy boosting snack during the day. Try it! I know you are going to love it.
