My Story
How Holistic Living Changed My Life
My Story - Kimberley Gregg

How My Experience Can Help You

As the mother of a child who has suffered with both severe eczema and food intolerances, I know how frustrating and helpless this situation can feel, at times. In the beginning, I didn't have the time or resources to be informed about my daughter Khloe's ailments, and because of this I was left at the complete mercy of my daughter's healthcare practitioners. At first, as a good citizen, I blindly followed the doctor's advice without questioning her recommendations, because honestly, what did I know? Doctors know best, right? The problem with this method of completely putting my faith into the hands of my daughter's doctor was that after following conventional treatments for my daughter's eczema and excruciatingly limited diet, when no improvements were made, I had no one to blame except for myself. I had no understanding of what was really going on in my daughter’s body or how to fight it. If I had listened to the doctor, I might have believed that I had exhausted all of my options and my daughter would be forced to live a very low quality of life, indefinitely. Fortunately, I am not the kind of person to accept the hand I have been dealt. I was no longer going to let time and ignorance be an excuse for not making positive changes in my family's life. That is when I started to learn about healing through natural living. Who knew that this choice to inform and empower myself could be so life changing.  My daughter’s eczema was completely controlled and her diet of applesauce, stewed carrots and hypoallergenic infant formula was expanded to include a diet that more resembled a diet that a child could actually thrive on. From dysfunctional and distressed, my family became whole again and I couldn't help but wonder, what if I hadn't searched for the truth...

Professional Experience

I have worked with young children for over 10 years in both general and special education settings. From preschools, to daycare centers, to private and individual care, the job that has had the greatest impact on my views of holistic health is the work that I have done as an Applied Behavior Analyst with children on the autistic spectrum in the New York State Early Intervention Program. Through this work, I was given my first exposure to the impact of how education, family involvement and lifestyle choices can transform lives. In my experience, although the consistency in the delivery of therapy, and the commitment and support of the child's family was the greatest predictor of the child's success within his therapy, families who adopted a holistic approach to caring for their children certainly saw significantly better results in their children's overall wellbeing. I have carried these three key components of positive transformation to the work that I do at Whole Health Whole Home. Through education, our options are expanded, and we are able to make informed decisions about how to best care for our children. With family involvement children are given a support system to be able to create and maintain the healthy habits that will follow them through life. Finally, through caring for our children holistically we allow them to be the best versions of themselves, strong, healthy and focused.  I am grateful for my experience as a teacher and as a health coach. These two fields which may not seem related, have been so beautifully interconnected in my life and have taught me a way of living that has dramatically improved my family's quality of life. It is my hope that my background can give you a unique perspective of how holistic living can impact you.

My Studies at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition

My experience at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition    (IIN   ) was life changing! This unique program prepares its students to become certified health coaches: however, the benefits of this program extend far beyond the health coach career training. Not only did I gain a better understanding of nutrition and holistic living, but through this program I also gained a better understanding of myself, my interests and my potential to live and spread the word of optimal health through balanced and holistic living.  Moreover, I became a part of a wonderful community that is devoted to changing the world for the better. IIN   is more than a school, it is a movement, and I am so glad to have had the privilege to be a part of it.  I am passionate about the work I do and I know that I never would have been able to do it without the guidance and continued support of this wonderful school.
